HARRISBURG, PA – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) announced its endorsement of four additional candidates for the state legislature and the rollout of voter engagement efforts across their districts ahead of the state primary election on May 19.

AFP-PA’s engagement in these competitive races underscores its commitment to electing principled leaders to the General Assembly who will champion free markets, reduce government overreach and support policy solutions that empower Pennsylvanians to live their American Dream.

Emily Brey, AFP-PA state director, gave the following statement:

“Hardworking Pennsylvanians who have seen their living costs creep upward because of Governor Josh Shapiro’s tax-and-spend progressive agenda need representation in Harrisburg that fights for fiscal sanity and restraint.

“AFP-PA will deploy our army of grassroots activists to drive out the vote in these important primary races and prevent a Democratic trifecta in the state government that would stifle growth and entrepreneurship across the commonwealth for years to come.”

Endorsed candidates:

Sen. Lisa Baker (SD 20) – Sen. Baker is a trusted partner to AFP on health care issues who has sponsored numerous bills that remove outdated restrictions on medical professionals and service providers. She is a reliable ally in preventing regulatory overreach and holding the bureaucracy accountable to taxpayers.

Sen. Chris Gebhard (SD 48) – As a former president of an insurance company and now the Chairman of the Banking and Insurance Committee, Sen. Gebhard has been a key partner to AFP in protecting Pennsylvanians’ First Amendment rights. He is a bulwark against wasteful state spending and tax increases who will continue to rein in Gov. Shapiro’s spending sprees.

Ethan Nicholas (HD 12) – Nicholas, the president of the Pittsburgh Business Exchange, understands the importance of fewer regulations, fiscal discipline, and lower tax burdens for driving economic growth and prosperity in Pennsylvania. He is a longtime ally of AFP-PA who will bring his pro-growth economic policy and strong coalition building skills to Harrisburg once he wins election.
